  • Construction methods- seams, fastening and finishes
  • Surface pattern techniques- tie-dye, batik, stencil print, applique, embellishment
  • Final outcome- a decorative apron

Year 1 Term2

  • Construction techniques- make a fitted skirt
  • Construction techniques- make a fitted top
  • Construction techniques- make a fitted dress
  • Recycle, upcycle and re-use- design and make a fully fitted garment made from recycled materials
  • Learn the theory linked to environmental issues in the textile industry

Year 1 Term3

  • Criteria 1 of official coursework- research a given theme in detail
  • Criteria 2 of official coursework- design a fully fitted garment linked to the theme

Year 2 Term1

  • Criteria 3 of official coursework- make a detailed and creative final outcome
  • Criteria 4 of official coursework- evaluate final outcome and whole project

Year 2 Term2

  • Theory and revision targeted towards the 2 hour written exam paper worth 50% of overall grade
